A referral pathway for New Zealand computer repair businesses, IT providers and managed-service teams that need specialist data recovery support for cases beyond ordinary repair or software recovery.
When to refer a case
- Clicking, beeping, dropped or mechanically damaged hard drives.
- SSDs that are not detected, overheat or have controller or NAND faults.
- RAID and NAS failures, especially after a failed rebuild or multiple disk problems.
- Liquid-damaged or non-booting encrypted Macs, Surface devices, iPhones and iPads.
- Cases where client data is more important than completing an ordinary hardware repair.
Protect the client’s data before referral
Stop repeated power cycles, scans, repair utilities and rebuild attempts. Do not initialise an unknown disk or replace multiple RAID members. Keep original boards, SSDs and paired components. Record exactly what has already been attempted.
How trade cases are handled
- Contact the lab with the device, symptoms and repair history.
- Agree whether communication and invoicing will be direct with the client or through the trade partner.
- Receive a case reference and packing instructions.
- Obtain a written technical scope and quote before paid work.
- Receive recovered data through the agreed return route.
Confidentiality and client ownership
The device owner or authorised representative must approve the work. Client credentials are requested only when necessary and should not be entered in an ordinary email or public form. Trade partners should avoid copying unrelated customer data before referral.
No inflated promises
Recovery depends on media condition, encryption, overwrite and previous attempts. Trade communication should not guarantee an outcome or quote a final price before the device has been assessed. Use the published fee policy as general guidance.
Discuss a trade partnership or referral
Tell us what happened, what device you have and which files matter most. We will provide packing instructions for a tracked mail-in case or arrange a Timaru drop-off.
Submitting an enquiry does not authorise paid recovery work. Any applicable assessment, parts, media, courier or recovery charges are explained before you approve them.
